LenMus can be run on Linux through Wine or CrossOver Linux. Both Wine and CrossOver Linux simulate the Windows api so that the Windows compilation works under Linux. This has been tested with Ubuntu 7.10 without experiencing any issues.

Wine

Wine can be installed using the Synaptic Package Manager, or through the command line using:

sudo apt-get install wine

The package will be installed for you after providing the root password.

After downloading the LenMus Installation Package you can install it.

This can be done by double clicking on the package or through the command:

wine /path/to/lenmus/lenmus_3.6_setup.exe

CrossOver Linux

We refer to the website of codeweavers for installation of CrossOver Linux

Midi configuration

It is possibile that you don't get any sound while running LenMus. This is probably due to the Midi configuration of your Ubuntu installation. This configuration is not automatically done. We refer to the Ubuntu fora to correct this. More specifically, the installation and correct configuration of Timidity++ could solve the problem. An explanation for installation of timidity++ can be found here. You will have to select one of the four Timidity ports in the Midi Wizard of LenMus after installation.

Automatic installation

Only modern Windows versions (NT/2000/XP/Vista) are supported. Just run the installer (lenmus_4.0_setup.exe).

It will ask you which language to use (for the installer and also as the default LenMus language), the path to install LenMus and ask you about installing optional components.

  1. There is a subdirectory (xx) for each supported language. Subdirectories are named, following RFC 1766, with the two letter language code (.i.e. 'en' for English, 'es' for Spanish, etc.) or with the five chars language-culture code (i.e. 'en-EN' for USA English or 'es-ES' for the Modern Spanish).
